TOU302/402 Tourism Project

In this final year unit (TOU402 in the Graduate Diploma), students undertake independent research for a project of their choice but designed and developed with the assistance and approval of the Unit Coordinator or tutor. Weekly workshops cover such issues as research design and ethics, field work protocol, report writing and publication. Over the years there has been a wide range of topics including:

  • Tourism development issues (eg Port Coogee)
  • Wildlife tourism
  • Volunteer tourism
  • Tourism and dive wrecks
  • Sport tourism
  • Music tourism
  • Festivals and events tourism
  • Destination comparisons (eg Broome and Port Douglas)
  • Disabilities and natural area access for tourists
  • Urban ecotourism (City of Cockburn)
  • Backpackers
  • Distance decay of tourism destinations
  • Consumer education
  • Travel for health, especially elective surgery

We have not previously requested electronic copies of the final reports so at this stage cannot offer a full range of projects. However, we will add to the list as more projects become available.
